What should I wear to class?
Wear comfy clothes! You don't need to show your belly!
Do I need to be a certain size?
No way! There are women in the class that are of every size & shape.
We are women and we embrace our beauty! Come out & have a good time dancing.
Do I have to perform in public?
Of course not! I never make anyone dance in public. Women come to class for various reasons.
They come to class for exercise, something new & different to learn, to have fun, etc.
There are dance opportunities throughout the year that give everyone a chance to perform
if they choose to do so. It is never a requirement!
I want to perform one day but I don't want to show my belly. What do I do?
Well...you are in luck! You can wear a beautiful beledi dress that covers
your belly. If you want to show your belly there are all types of 2 piece
beaded costumes (bedlah) that you can purchase over the internet.
I have 2 left feet. I don't think I could belly dance. Can I still come to class?
Of course! I encourage every woman to belly dance! It is about the most fun a person
can have. You don't need a dance partner and you can express yourself through
music while getting into shape & having fun. Not everyone is born a dancer! Everyone has
to start somewhere. I have women in class who learn quickly & not so quickly - it all depends
on what kind of experience you have had in the past. It is not the easiest dance form to learn. It takes
dedication & perseverence! I always tell everyone "don't give up at first! It can take up to 6 months
to figure out a move!" I've been dancing since 1998 and I am still learning lots of moves myself! I tell
everyone that you are a student for life! Belly dance is a constant challenge & I love challenges!
